Rayan Orphanage

ANAHO has initiated Rayan, a long-term project to protect and empower orphans. Rayan was established to provide 24/7 orphan care and education to needy orphans from families below the poverty line, especially widowed mothers. Rayan provides a well-furnished hostel, education, nutrition, and medical checkup service, sports entertainment, and arts facilities. We plan to expand the Rayan chain of Orphan houses across Afghanistan. Currently, we have admitted 100 orphans to our main branch in Kabul.

Women Empowerment Through Digital Arts.

ANAHO provided specialized 4 months of Graphic Design and Web Development courses for some 60 students through two different classes in August 2023. These students were selected through a competitive procedure. The students were mostly university students from different backgrounds. Most of the students were from the IT sector living in Kabul. This program helped Afghan girls to work from home and have a decent income. As we are witness to the impacts and level of satisfaction of the beneficiaries that are going through the already initiated training sessions, we believe that these thematic areas of our training program are very rare. Online freelancing is also a fresh entity in Afghanistan and females are very rare in this field. This could be a long-term sustainable source of decent income. considering the current socio-politico-economic turmoil, it might probably prove to be the most effective solution for Afghan women.

Rayan Orphanage

ANAHO has initiated Rayan Orphanage, a long-term project to protect and empower orphans. One of the most pressing issues in Afghanistan is the children who need humanitarian assistance. As per UNICEF estimates in 2021, 12.9 Million Afghan children need humanitarian assistance specifically as per another UNICEF report in 2008, 1.6 million are orphans. This figure regarding orphans would surely have increased because of the recent unrest specifically from 2018 to 2022. As per a TRT WORLD report in November 2021, there are a total of 68 public and private orphanages that previously housed 9319 orphans. Currently, since the regime change and political unrest, the orphans are being returned to their relative’s families, and only 3566 orphans are left in the orphan houses. Orphans specifically from poor families are forced into labor, depriving them of education and other livelihood facilities. Rayan Orphan House has emerged in such a context to give the orphans the education and livelihood facilities they cannot receive in their families. Rayan was registered with the Ministry of Education as a School and with the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs as an Orphan house in 2022. We aim to become a pioneer in orphan care and extend our network and coverage across Afghanistan. Our vision is that every orphan in Afghanistan especially from poor families should have equal life opportunities as enjoyed by other citizens. Our mission is to reach out to the neediest orphans and embark on a journey of normal life education and opportunities. We will ensure to have a country-wide network of Rayan’s volunteers who would help us find the orphans. We aim to help those families especially widowed mothers and their children comprehensively. We have programs for orphan children's mothers to get an education and vocational training and hence become normal breadwinners of their families.
